Westchester County, Tobacco 21:
The public hearing for Tobacco 21 is set for Monday, May 21st at 7:30pm. 8th floor, 148 Martine Ave, White Plains, NY 10601. Speakers can begin signing up at 6:15pm, Each speaker has 3 mins. Speakers will be called in the order they arrive and sign up. There is no limit to the number of speakers, and you can guarantee our opponents will be there in force, so so do we! Show up and tell them your story. 18-20 year olds important! We know 18-20 year olds went back to smoking in NYC. Don't let that happen in Westchester!
Nassau bill to raise age to buy tobacco to 21 advances
The measure, which will go before the full legislature, mimics laws on the books in Suffolk and other municipalities.
Buyers of tobacco products would have to be at least 21 years old, under a bill passed unanimously by a Nassau legislative committee Monday.

CASAA Call to Action:
On March 21, 2018, the FDA published its advanced notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM) regarding flavors in vapor and tobacco products. The FDA is seeking additional information and research on 25 specific topics listed in the ANPRM. Comments are due by June 19, 2018. Stakeholders and other interested parties are encouraged to submit multiple responses addressing these topics individually or the ANPRM as a whole.
Call to Action:
For our first engagement on the FDA’s flavors ANPRM, CASAA is asking our members to provide responses to question 10 under “Additional public health considerations:”

On January 23, 2018, The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine released a congressionally mandated Consensus Study Report titled “Public Health Consequences of E-Cigarettes.” By analyzing available research studies, this landmark report shows the potential for e-cigarettes to deliver a positive net public health benefit.
